The first words you think of when you look at Davis Ayer’s photographs are dreamy, or maybe, gauzy. They’re like looking at memories. His photos are fashion photography derived but they’re so much more than that. They’re ethereal, full of sublimely beautiful people in sublimely beautiful pictures. Ayer works in Los Angeles and Austin, Texas and works in film for the vivid, saturated, vintage colors that mark his work. We’re especially fond of his Polatives series… Destroyed polaroids of haunting, otherworldly images. They make our hearts skip a beat they’re so lovely. — Carsen Rusell
